New Teacher Institute!

This week was incredible, inspiring, and so much fun! I got to spend the week training all of the new teachers to our school district! Teacher truth- this was actually the very first time I've ever done any type of training outside of my local school, so I was kind of freaking out a little bit!

We met on Monday morning to go over some last minute details and set up our rooms.

I left out some motivating snacks for all our new teachers! These Positive Sticky Notes can be used for EVERYTHING!

Then it was time for the training to start! We started every morning by having a {Morning Meeting} and it was so much fun to get to know each other! This fun little yarn activity is my absolute favorite way to start the school year, and an activity that I use throughout the year to build a community in my classroom. You can read all about how I use it here!

There was A TON of information to cover! From backwards design to building relationships in your classroom, we spent most of our time collaborating with each other.

What an AMAZING group of educators!

I learned SO much this week; from exciting new ideas to implement in my classroom, changes happening in our district, and a little bit more about myself. I am so glad that I stepped outside of my comfort zone (I can talk in front of 7 year olds ALL day long and not have a problem- but talking in front of adults can be intimidating) and decided to be an instructor. I really enjoyed it and look forward to doing it again in the future!

I even got to meet my teacher twin!

Primary Peach Meet Up!

Yesterday was SO. Much. Fun. I finally got to meet some of my favorites from The Primary Peach, the collaborative blog that I am apart of that is made up of sweet Georgia teachers!

Summer has completley flown by and I am so glad that we were able to squeeze in this fun meet up!

We met at the Cheesecake Factory- absolutely amazing! April from Grade School Giggles made us these cute little cards so that we could recognize each other!

I have never been to a meet-up before, but I couldn't resist making these fun little goody bags for these wonderful ladies! Simple and southern!

We sat and talked for a few hours, and it was just the best time! The best part was that we actually sat and talked. We weren't on our phones, our social media- we truly just sat and talked and got to know each other better!

I {finally} got to meet my #bloggybestie who I have been talking to for awhile now! Erin from The Elementary Darling is absolutely adorable and so sweet, not to mention she has some FABULOUS ideas! I am going to be stalking her blog and TPT store for 1st grade ideas!

If you haven't been following The Primary Peach, you need to now! We've got some exciting news headed your way!

A Positive Day- from Start to Finish!

After my second year teaching, I attended a Highly Effective Teaching training that was so beneficial for my career. I learned so many great habits and tools to use in my classroom. Many of the tools centered around creating a warm, positive environment in your classroom- something that I've always tried to foster in my own classroom!

It's important to me to start the day on a positive note and end the day on a positive note. There a few simple things I do each day to help make sure this happens!

I start out the beginning of every morning in the hallway. Not at my desk, not at my computer, not grading papers. I stand in the hallway to greet my students. It's amazing what a simple smile and a hello can do for your day!

I'll be honest and say that I am not able to do this every morning. But, I do try to do it as often as I can. I can tell a difference in the way our day goes when I make sure to greet my students, so it's definitely worth that time in the morning!

When I greet my students, I also make sure to teach them how to greet me back! At the beginning of the year, I have many students walk right past me and barely say hello. I make sure to model how to properly say hello to someone and how important it is to look them in the eyes! We practice a lot!

After the announcements, I always make sure to have a Morning Meeting. We discuss our day and I allow the students to share special things. Kids get so excited to share things that are going on in their lives, and I like to give them an opportunity to do this! This takes time in the morning, so I only choose a few students to share each morning. But, I feel like I've gotten to know my students better by doing this and I've been able to form stronger relationships with them, which is incredibly important!
I've had so many parents tell me that when they ask their child what they did during the day, they always say "Nothing" or that they didn't learn anything. This always drives me crazy because we do SO much during the day! So, I wanted to make sure we had a discussion at the end of each day to review all the fun we had! During our Closing Circle, or Afternoon Meeting, we share what has made us happy that day! I have each student that wants to share begin with, "Today, I'm happy because..." and they have to share something that made them happy during our school today. It's a great way to end our day and review all the fun!

In the mornings, I am completely fine with students just saying {hello) to me, but in the afternoon I give students three choices when they are leaving- a hug, a hi five or handshake! When students are leaving for the day, I stand at the door and they have to give me a hug, a hifive or a handshake before they leave!

What ways to do try to foster a positve environment in your classroom!?

Make Your Masterpiece!

Hello Friends! It's week THREE of the TPT Seller Challenge and I'm LOVING this challenge! It's really motivated me to get my butt in gear this summer and blog, create, and plan!

This week's challenge is to Make Your Masterpiece! So. Much. Fun!!

I had already started working on a product for Back to School, and I knew this would be the perfect product for this week's challenge! I got the idea from a recent linky party I hosted on my blog- How to {ROCK} Your First Year Teaching. I've been a little obsessed with the rockstar theme lately and carried it over into this product!
Since I'll be teaching in a multi-age classroom this year, I wanted to make sure that this product would work with first AND second graders! I also thought it would be good for Kindergarten and third graders! So, there is FUN for everyone!

There are coloring pages, graphic organizers (Rules Rock! and Rockstar Facts!), THREE different writing prompts, a {rockstar} creativity, AND cute little certificates to send home with your kiddos on the first day of school OR the first week of school!

One of my {all-time} favorite things to make is crafitivities! I just LOVE drawing out all the pieces and piecing them together :)

I was excited to trade products with another teacher and got some AWESOME feedback! I'm not super familiar with Kindergarten, so she helped me create some more Kindergarten friendly activities to add to this mini-unit! Thanks Jessica from Deep in the Heart of Teaching!

I'm super excited about doing this with my {Fun Firsties} AND {Super Seconds} when head back to school in just a few short weeks, and I hope you are too! It is marked down half off in my store AND you could win one yourself! Just enter the giveaway below!

{Currently} July

Happy July! I remember at the end of the school year, I kept telling myself that I would give myself June to relax and that get back in the game in July. Well friends, July is officially here. I guess that means summer is almost over!

I'm linking up with Farley to share what I'm {currently} up to!

Listening- yes, I am {almost} thirty and still LOVE Taylor Swift! T. Swift dance parties in the kitchen with my littles are my favorite!

Loving- I'm a sucker for all things Kendra Scott. So, when this Harlow necklace went on major sale, I had to have it! I was a little nervous that it would be ultra bright, but it is absolutely perfect and I am having a blast styling it!

Thinking- Seriously y'all. My to-do list never ends! It's only the beginning of July and technically I should still have a few weeks left of easy breezy summer days. However, I've got SO much to prepare for! Packing, setting up a new classroom, and planning to present at New Teacher Institute, I've got a lot on my plate this month! Thank goodness for cute to-do lists!

Wanting- I'm really, really, really looking forward to the launch of the Erin Condren Teacher Planners! I've been patiently waiting stalking their website, and FINALLY I know when they are being released! I will definitely be ordering my new planner on July 7th!!

Needing- I really need to start packing for our upcoming trip. But, this week has been non-stop and I still have piles of laundry to do! Packing for littles AND me is a task!

Hey Now, You're an All Star...SHOPPER! Yep, that's right! I'm completley addicted and I've got to admit, I feel like I am a pretty decent shopper. I've got my credit card statement to prove it!

That's all for now! Make sure to head back to Farley's blog and share what you are {currently} up to!

Create A Pal Fun!!!

As soon as I spotted one of Lauren Personalized Pal's on Instagram, I fell in love at first sight! I just had to get my own!

Lauren from Polka Dots & Pals did an absolutely AMAZING job creating my little mini-me! It's SO me! The hair, the dress, the accessories, and of course the iced coffee!!

I have already started using on her on everything. She had to be on the cover of my {The Organized Teacher} notebook for next year!

So, when Lauren contacted me about her {Create a Pal} set, I knew I had to have it and couldn't wait to PLAY!!!

The {Create a Pal} set has OVER 400 graphics. Yes, you read that right! You can personalize your own pal so easily with this set. It's absolutely amazing. Shirts, Pants, Sweaters, Dresses, and TONS of accessories! I could change my outfit on my pal each day if I wanted!

Lauren has included step-by-step directions to create your own pal. The directions make it super easy! You literally start at the top and work your way down!

I wanted to create a more dressed-down pal for myself, because during the summer my style is definitely different than during the school year! I've been rocking the top knot/messy bun look a lot lately!

And, just for fun I had to create my husband and I! Yes, there are MALE Create a Pal's too!

In real life, my husband is 6'4 and I'm only 5'3, so I had to make our pals represent the real us! Aren't these too cute!?

Since I'll be co-teaching next year, I thought it would be SO much fun to create my teacher bestie and I! I can't wait to use these fun little pals in our classroom next year!

Lauren's {Create a Pal} set is on my must-have list!!! I just know you'll love it as much as I do!
