About Me

Hi Y'all! My name is Chandra {CH-an-DRA} and I am a *thirty something*  living just north of Atlanta, Georgia. However, I am still a Canadian citizen! I was born in Alberta, Canada and also lived in Ontario. I've lived in Georgia since I was in middle school, but will always be a Canadian at heart!

I have ALWAYS known that I wanted to be a teacher. I'm sure like most of you, I played school ALL the time as a little girl! I've always been such a planner and knew immediately that I was going to be an Early Childhood Education major when I started college! I graduated with my Bachelor's degree from Kennesaw State University in December 2007 (where I met my WONDERFUL husband!).

I was lucky to get a supply position at the amazing school that I student taught at for the spring, which lasted right up until 2 weeks before my wedding! It was perfect timing! Like I said before, I met my husband, Craig, at KSU (he was also an education major) and we have been married for just over 5 years! I know everyone says this, but he truly is my best friend and I don't know what I would do without him in my life! He is defintiely my rock! After our wedding, I was hired as a 1st grade teacher at the same school for August! I was so incredibly excited! I taught there for 2 years, until I was laid off because of budget cuts! Our district laid of 500 teachers (yes, you read that correctly) that year! We had just bought our house, and I was extremely heartbroken! Luckily, I got my job back at the same school within a month! However, I got to move to second grade!!! After spending almost all summer moving my things back in (I have A LOT!), I found out 3 weeks into the school year that I was being reassigned. More tears and moving ALL of my stuff, I was now teaching 1st grade again at the cutest little primary school! That ended up being a really tough year for me (I was also pregnant with our first baby, Camden AND getting my master's degree). It was an easy decision to go back to school for me! The pay raise is totally worth the time and energy! I got my Master's Degree in Elementary Reading and Mathematics from Walden University (absolutely LOVED this program). I stayed at my cute little primary chool one more year, and got moved AGAIN!

Now, I am teaching 1st grade in a 1st and 2nd grade multiage classroom at a wonderful school just outside of Atlanta! I am absolutely LOVING teaching 1st grade and I get to teach with one of my best friends everyday!

When I am not teaching, I am a wife, mommy to Camden and Cora, sister, friend, blogger, crafter, Stella & Dot Stylist and much much more! I like to keep busy!

Teaching with Crayons and Curls has become a big part of my life! My naturally curly hair and LOVE for everything colorful is the reason behind my name!
